Luggage is clunky and incessant for the frequent traveler, the occasional vacationer, and anyone in between. When not in use, beautiful cases are ushered away into dark corners and lie empty or stuffed with unwanted items. The nature of a well-designed object is to benefit its user, yet current luggage serves as a stressor for a significant portion of its lifetime by stealing personal space.
Proposal
A better solution is a suitcase that disappears into nothing, staying out of sight and mind until needed. This luggage uses an innovative corrugated material that can be rolled up tightly into a percentage of its original size. An air pump is all that is needed to activate the device, with the internal air pressure of the material giving the luggage structure.
Material innovation
Novel corrugated polyethalene vinyl material, created by heat sealing separate sheets of vinyl. This material is highly collapsible when inactive and strong when inflated with air.
